Projects in Development

The Sculptures

Project development usually involves a lot of behind the scenes work besides the actual sculpting. Whether it's a commission from a client, or a self-motivated piece a lot of work must take place to make things happen. Sketching, engineering, sourcing materials, and logistics are just a few of items that must be taken care of before the sculpting takes place.

Ndlovu - A life-sized African elephant standing five meters long and made from hardwoods collected in the veld by a community near Camperdown, Kwa-Zulu Natal. He will commemorate the release of the first wild elephant in Natal in over a hundred years.

Poseidon - The Olympian deity of the seas and Oceans. Known to the Romans as Neptune, the earth-shaker because of his association with earthquakes. He will stand over 5 meters tall on completion, and take center-stage in the center of pool in a large development in Dubai.

The Thinker - I've had this notion of doing a repeat of my driftwood sculpture based on Rodin's "The Thinker". This time I'm taking it a bit further by placing him on a giant Rubix Cube. He will in reality be a 2x life-sized driftwood sculpture, but in a photo he should look miniature when viewed on the Rubix Cube. Once completed he's going to be placed at a private residence in Umhlanga, Kwa-Zulu Natal.
